  Shaw employees are very badly trained and they effectively (as a result of miss-communication between Shaw staff members) conned me into a different contract than I agreed to and then screwed me over. I signed up for phone, internet and tv online which was on a contract for $70 for 6 month and then $140 for the remaining months for 2 years. When the guy came to install the equipment and handed me the contract to sign he told me that there was a $60 cancellation fee if I ever decided to cancel my contract. Firstly, the payment shot up to $188 after about 3 months, I wrote an email to Shaw telling them it was supposed to be $70 for 6 months and then $140. The email response I got said they have no clue what I was talking about and that the bill was $188. After a while I decided to get out of the contract and cancel TV, the first time I called them I was told I would have to pay out the entire contract in order to cancel. I asked if she meant I would have to pay the same amount as I would if I had the services but without the services and she said "yes". Obviously that would be pointless so I stayed on the contract. However after a while I was determined to get out of the contract and not pay it all out as I was told I would have to by the first lady I spoke to on the phone. After all I was told by the service technician it would be $60 to cancel. I called back and this time spoke a little more assertively with the service staff person. She told me it would be $15 a month to cancel, very different from what that first person told me but still too high. However before the end of the conversation she told me it was actually $20 a month so a total of $240 to get out of the remaining year of the contract. I tried to get them to lower that or give me some better deal. At first she offered me a better deal for phone and Internet if a kept the contract and TV. I told them I don't want TV but would still like the deal on Internet and phone because I'm paying way more to cancel then I agreed to in person. She told me she could not do that and that her manager would tell me the same thing. I told them to cancel but then my bill shot up $700 the next day, I called again and this time recorded my conversation and also requested a copy of the contract that I signed to be emailed to me. This person told me that some of that money was for the equipment which would be refunded. That's fine. But then he tells me that the actually cancellation fee is actually $260 not $240. I honestly don't understand how badly they are at their jobs. I talked with 4 different Shaw service people and each one of them told me something different. The first one got me to sign a contract under a false impression and the rest of them screwed me over. These guys suck and I will be switching to Telus. Never sign a contract with these people without carefully reading every line and making a photo copy for your own records!
